Pittsburgh is a leader in an emerging EcoDistricts movement across North America. Through the EcoDistrict standard for community development, neighborhoods commit to equity, resilience and climate protection as fundamental. A national non-profit, EcoDistricts, recently recognized 11 leading communities who embrace this approach and committed to EcoDistricts Certified. Millvale is one of these communities and has received numerous national and local awards for their leadership. In addition Uptown just completed its EcoInnovation District Plan, and Homewood is beginning a new community planning process this fall, both informed by the EcoDistricts approach. Larimer has similarly organized towards a model of sustainable community and economic development. Join the leaders of Pittsburgh’s EcoDistricts for an engaging discussion about the EcoDistrict opportunity and how the approach is transforming the City’s neighborhoods.
