The (Christmas) Cookie Table For a Good Cause This Wed at Hough’s

December 1, 2013 Lindsay

One of the BEST parts of writing this blog is the amazing community of Pittsburghers that have stepped up to support so many great causes.  The CHS Holiday Gift Project is one of many incredible holiday fundraisers happening around town.

IheartPGH Readers Make a Difference

Last year, the readers of IheartPGH raised over $2500 to help Pittsburgh non-profits.

  • $1395 for Light of Light Minisitries to provide underwear for the homeless shelter
  • $1360 online and more at the event for CHS (Community Human Services) Holiday Fundraiser

This year, the readers of IheartPGH contributed time, money (over $5000), tweets, Facebook posts and great ideas to make it possible for me to participate in the Millennial Trains Project.  I am personally incredibly grateful for the amazing generosity of Pittsburghers.

The CHS Holiday Gift Project and The (ChristMas Cookie Table)

chs-squareNow that Thanksgiving is behind us, it is full-steam ahead into the holiday season.  I hope you will join me in supporting CHS again this holiday season.  The monies raised from this annual event allow CHS to provide small holiday gifts and activities for the Pittsburghers that they serve.  Last year – we exceed the fundraising goal and CHS was able to provide gift for over 400 people.

What is Community Human Services (CHS)? CHS is a Pittsburgh based non-profit that in located in Oakland and serves the entire Pittsburgh area.  CHS is over 30 years old and offers a variety of programs for Pittsburghers struggling with homelessness, mental illness, health issues and more.

What is the CHS Holiday Gift Project? CHS will use the funds raised to provide a small gifts for the individuals and families they serve.  Many of these individuals and families are not included in other holiday gift programs which are geared towards children and the elderly.

How You can Help!

1. Donate Online

The fastest, easiest way to support CHS Cards and Cookies is to click here and make a donation online.

Last year we had 34 people donate online, I’d like to double that number this year!  For each person that makes an online contribution, I’ll donate another $2.00 to CHS.

2. Come to the CHS Holiday Gift Project Party this Wednesday at Houghs

chs-cookies-2010

There will be cookies, there will be lots of great raffle prizes and lots of great people.  You can make a contribution online and/or make a donation at the door. This event is free to attend – I hope you will come, eat some Christmas cookies and buy some raffle tickets.

Tell me about the cookies! As I went back to look at the blog post about last years event, I realized that I left out one of the best parts of the event – THE COOKIE TABLE!  The folks at CHS go above and beyond, we’re talking as-many-cookies-as-a-Pittsburgh-wedding size cookie table.

I hope to see you on Wednesday at Houghs!
