A Spectacular Display of Fire, Molten Glass and Steelers Pride

February 3, 2011 Maya

What I heart about Steeler fans is that EVERYONE gets into it.  Like the fact that the Pittsburgh Glass Center is blowing black and gold glass this Friday:
Special Glassblowing Demonstrations to Show Support for Pittsburgh
Steelers; Free to Public

WHO: Everyone is welcome

WHAT: Two Steelers-themed glassblowing demonstrations

WHEN: 6 – 7:30pm Hot blown and sculpted glass football helmet

7:30 – 9pm Blown Lombardi trophy and 3’ Steeler emblem hot poured in a
sand mold. Artists will attempt to create a spectacular display of fire,
molten glass and Steelers pride as they hoist the emblem into the air behind
the trophy while keeping the temperatures at 2,000 degrees.

WHERE: Pittsburgh Glass Center, 5472 Penn Avenue, Friendship, near the
corner of Penn and Negley Avenues

WHY: Pittsburgh Glass Center artists show support for Super Bowl-bound
Pittsburgh Steelers.

HOW: Free to the public. Those at home can watch online at:
http://www.ustream.tv/channel/pgc-hotjam

Demonstrations coincide with the opening of a new
contemporary glass art exhibition at Pittsburgh Glass Center (PGC) called
“TENacity.” Nearly 30 local glass artists present new work based on a
historic or personal event from the last 10 years. This event is one of many
that will take place at PGC in 2011 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the
nonprofit public access glass school, gallery and studio.
