Image via WikipediaRAD is not only an awesome word circa 1980, but it is also the initials for Regional Asset District. Basically you pay a 1% county sales tax and part of that tax goes to RAD which supports all kinds of important cultural resources.
Each fall many of the RAD supported organizations open their doors for free and I write a blog post to remind you about this FREE fun (s
ee 2007 post here).
You can check out the whole RADical Days 2008 schedule here.
This Sunday the FREE fun is at the Pittsburgh Zoo.
Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium

Watch monkeys from Madagascar and crawl through meerkat tunnel. You’ll see the Burg’s biggest babies! Performances by Pittsburgh Musical Theater X-Treme Teen Broadway, and the Pittsburgh CLO cast of I Love you, You’re Perfect, Now Change. Demonstrations by Dance Alloy Theatre.
