Wilderness First Aid

A&E sign common in the UK.Image via WikipediaIf you are interested in taking your outdoors skills to the next level – this is the course for you.  Venture Outdoors is bringing the people from NOLS, which is an amazing organization that lead outdoor trips and education, to Western PA for a weekend in Wilderness First Aid.  Sign up by Oct. 1, 2008 if you are interested.

Venture Outdoors is proud to host a two-day, 16-hour Wilderness First Aid workshop through the internationally recognized Wilderness Medical Institute of NOLS. The workshop takes place on Saturday, November 1 and Sunday, November 2 at Crooked Creek Environmental Learning Center, an hour North of Pittsburgh.
Wilderness First Aid training equips and certifies participants to deal with medical emergencies in situations where dialing 911 is not an option. Through this hands-on workshop, students learn techniques for illness and injury prevention and how to care for patients when advanced emergency care is more than an hour away.

This course is for anyone who spends time in the outdoors and wants to be prepared to handle a variety of medical situations. All levels of training and experience are welcome. Camping is free and dorm lodging is available for $10 per evening. To register, contact Venture Outdoors at 412.255.0564 or visit our website at www.ventureoutdoors.org.
