I like Hike

August 10, 2006 Lindsay

The kids from Urban Hike are at it again.  I went on the last Urban Hike and it was a blast!  This is a great, FREE activity and a chance to meet some of the coolest people in Pittsburgh.  So save some time in your Saturday morning for the Urban Hike.

Hike with us in Oakmont August 12th

Hike with us in Oakmont this Saturday, August 12th. Get a great view of the river, walk through some woods with a creepy name, hear about a mysterious bookshop, and see a frighteningly fascinating theater! Don’t be scared, though. We’re all in this together. Meet us at 10 am. Wear good walking shoes, and don’t forget that sunscreen and water. It’s August, you know.  Meet in Riverside Park near the Running Track.

Click More to see more directions to the Hike…

Directions:

From the East End:
Take Washington Road (Route 8), then a right on Allegheny River Boulevard (Route 130). Turn left on Pennsylvania Avenue. Park at Riverside Park. Walk into the park and meet us down by the river, near the running track.

From the Really East End/some points south:
Take I-376 to exit 10A toward Churchill (Route 130). Turn right on Churchill Road. Turn right on Beulah Road/Route 130. Turn right on Allegheny River Boulevard. Turn left on Pennsylvania Avenue. Park at Riverside Park. Walk into the park and meet us down by the river, near the running track.

From the west/south/downtown:
West: take I-279 to Route 28. South/downtown: take I-579 to Route 28. Take exit 11 (Route 910) toward Harmarville/PA Turnpike. Turn right onto Freeport Road. Turn left onto the Hulton Bridge. Turn right on 3rd Avenue. Turn right on Pennsylvania Avenue. Park at Riverside Park. Walk into the park and meet us down by the river, near the running track.

From the north:
You could take the PA Turnpike. Take exit 48 toward Route 28/New Kensington/Pittsburgh. Merge onto Freeport Road. Turn left onto the Hulton Bridge. Turn right on 3rd Avenue. Turn right on Pennsylvania Avenue. Park at Riverside Park. Walk into the park and meet us down by the river, near the running track.

Or you could just let someone else do the driving: bus 77A will get you there.

Awesome! Git Aht hopes to be there (and reference it in the weekender 'cause it's a cheap way to get another item into the post), albeit with an enormous Orange Juice and the darkest Raybans he can find… This 10 a.m. business with all you healthy people is ridiculous! There is no 10 a.m. on the weekend! 😉

[…] Saturday, August 12 Urban Hike – Oakmont, 10:00 a.m., Oakmont Lindsay covered this yesterday, but the need to point this out is important, and saves me from writing a whole item! You think it’s easy getting up early every Friday and ripping off other sources for this information? Well, it’s not. Well, it is. Ok, whichever. The Urban Hikers take on Oakmont and they promise “a great view of the river, walk through some woods with a creepy name, hear about a mysterious bookshop, and see a frighteningly fascinating theater!” which sounds a little better suited to, say, October but it’ll be cold then. I’d rather walk in the warm. With a beer. And the sisters of the Tau Gamma sorority. Who would give me neck rubs as we walk, just out of the goodness of their hearts, ’cause they’re like that. God bless ‘em, they’re good people. […]
