Head of the Ohio - Sat. Sept. 27, 2008

The Head of the Ohio is a regatta that attracts rowers and crew teams from all over the country to row on Pittsburgh’s rivers.  The Head of the Ohio has been held here in Pittsburgh since 1986.  In the past 2 years the race has been named one of the top 10 regattas in the country.  The Head of the Ohio website has a great history page which includes some info about the history of rowing in Pittsburgh.

Even if you aren’t a rower this is worth a visit on Saturday - another great excuse to see the waterfront and meet some great people.

The Head of the Ohio is hosted by Three Rivers Rowing Association (TRRA).   The races start at 8 am and run until 4 pm.  There will be food and concessions.

They also have a great commemorative painting from Pittsburgh artist Johno Prascak.  Prints are available for purchase at the race registration or by calling Three Rivers Rowing Association 412-231-TRRA.

Want to learn about rowing, kayaking and dragon boats?  Stop by the Three Rivers Rowing Association’s Spring Fling on Friday to learn about all of the ways they can help you row, row, row down the rivers.

Please join us on Friday, April 11, 2008 for our annual Open House. Meet and mingle with members while learning about our 2008 rowing, kayaking and dragon boating programs. Complimentary wine and hors d’oeuvres served.
