I was finishing lunch with Friend of IheartPGH who suggested that we check out the newest coffee shop on the south side. Big Dog Coffee is located on Sarah street near the South Side works. This place is beautiful - the counter is an old wooden antique, bright walls, comfortable seats (I am sitting in a rocking chair as I write this), there is a patio for outside seating when the weather is a bit warmer. The main room has a lovely fire place - if IheartPGH was a podcast I would be recording the sound of a crackling fire for you.

his place is really that cozy. The desert counter is beautiful and they have homemade ho hos. I think I had forgotten about ho hos, but the idea of a homemade one is amazing. Watch out cupcakes, there is a new tasty treat in town.

Welcome Back Harris Grill

You could not asked for a nicer afternoon to reopen the Harris Grill. I have not had a chance to stop in yet but I have received emails from a few many fans of the Harris asking me to share the news that the Harris Grill has reopened for business. I am very very happy to have the Harris Grill back.

If you are new to IheartPGH or to Pittbsurgh, the Harris Grill is a wonderful locally owned restaurant that has been closed since they had a fire last summer. The Harris is especially great for warm weather because they have two great big patios - that are perfect for outdoor dining and drinking. I did drive by at around 8pm this evening and there was even a line to get a table.

The Harris Grill is located on Ellsworth Avenue in Shadyside.

The Harris is on Hiatus

Just wanted to say hello to the good folks from the Harris Grill - and the amazing Pittsburgh Fire department. The Harris caught fire last weekend and will be closed for some time to rebuild. The Pittsburgh Fire department arrived lighting fast, the fire was brought under control quickly and thankfully everyone got out of the building with out any problems. This is sad loss for Pittsburgh’s bacon lovers and out door happy hour fans. In the meantime, we need to find a few good places to drink outside for the last few weeks of summer. Please leave yours suggestions about other great patios to enjoy.
