2nd Annual Millvale Brew Festival

August 6, 2008 Lindsay Leave a Comment

2nd Annual Millvale Brew FestivalI am always happy to write about events that become annual events. I wrote about and attended this festival last summer. The good folks in Millvale are back with their 2nd Annual Brew Festival. 3 hours of beer tasting. This festival is great because you get to hang out at the Millvale riverfront park – which is located right along the river – which is a great place to spend some time on a Saturday in August. The Brew Festival is a fundraiser for the Millvale Borough Development Corporation and Millvale MainStreets Program and supports the continued revitalization of Millvale… Read the rest

Cold Hearted LoveJust in time for Valentine’s Day the Should I Drink that Team has put together some thoughts on some lovely beers with miserable names. Check out their latest podcast – Love Stinks – where they review the following beers – Rogue’s Brutal Bitter, Erie Brewing Misery Bay IPA, Bells Two Hearted Ale If you haven’t had a chance to visit & listen to Should I Drink That – you should – Sick Puppy and Father Spoon (who are really great people – don’t let the serious names deter you) have an award winning podcast about all things beer and they… Read the rest

Austin Band with a Hometown Connection

January 24, 2008 AgentSka Leave a Comment

The Asylum Street Spankers, an Austin, Texas based Band with a Pittsburgh connection (one of the band members is married to a local gal) will be preforming at Diesel on Saturday night – doors open at 6pm. Founded thirteen years ago at a booze and hallucinogen-fueled party at the Dabbs Hotel along the river in Llano, Texas, the Asylum Street Spankers stand as one of America’s most distinctive groups. Defiantly acoustic, fiercely independent and absurdly good, the Spankers have been led by founders Christina Marrs and Wammo from being a country-blues revival act playing happy hours in Austin, through nearly… Read the rest

East End Brewing Charity Open House

December 6, 2007 Lindsay 1 Comment

I give this event my highest endorsement. Scott from East End Brewing does an amazing job of putting together great events. I have visited the brewery in the past for an open house and it is a great place to visit. Many of Pittsburgh’s best beer drinkers tend to hang out here. Last year the charity open house raised over $3000 for PLEA. You can help them beat that number this year! Reasons to spend your Saturday at East End Brewing’s Charity Open House Beer drinking for a charity organization Food from the Harris Grill – I really do miss… Read the rest
