Note from Lindsay: Please welcome Amanda – she is a new blogger here at IheartPGH and she has been very patient while we upgraded the blog.  So now that we are upgraded and settled in at our new host – time for some new posts!  I am so happy she will be writing for us and this post is about a great coffee shop in Pittsburgh that I don’t think we have blogged about yet! Please welcome her to IheartPGH!

Today, I almost went to see the art exhibit Ordinary Madness, currently showing at the Carnegie Art Museum, which I was excited about. The operative word here is almost. I put my scarf on; I was wearing my coat and my comfortable tennis shoes for museum walking, but I couldn’t make it. I have a number of school related commitments to attend to, and it’s starting to eat away at me in a way that I can’t deal with anymore. But—I loathe the idea of wasting an entire beautifully sunny Sunday working in my apartment. So, I ventured to my absolute favorite coffee shop, Espresso a Mano. (1)

Now, I could gush about the espresso here, and the French Pressed coffee, and the lovely heart shaped swirls Matt can make on your latte foam. But honestly, you can go to Espresso a Mano’s own website and read about much of that—and you should, my dear. I think it will be more informative for me to talk about what I love about this place, because it goes so far beyond the coffee. [Read more…]

We are working on moving IheartPGH to a new home on the interwebs.  Everything should look the same but just in case you are having trouble accessing the site you will know that we are making some changes behind the scenes.  Comments for this blog are closed – as soon as everything is moved over you will be able to leave comments.  So hold those thoughts and ideas for a few hours.

We are very excited to be moving over to Pair Networks – which is based right in Pittsburgh. Pair is an awesome company that hosts websites around the world.  Pair is one of those hidden Pittsburgh gems.  Not only are they experts at website hosting but they are working hard to be a good citizen of Pittsburgh and the environment. You can check out their environmental policy here.

I have started working on a new project with the folks at Pair so you will be hearing a lot more about Pair and the new project in the future.

Questyinz: Wiggin T-Shirt?

Who wouldn’t want a Sally Wiggin t-shirt?  A reader wrote in:  “Does anyone know where I could get a Wiggin (as in Sally Wiggin) T shirt?  The ones I have seen have a screen print of her head with “Wiggin” underneath…want to buy for a Christmas gift…but don’t know where to find them….Please help!”

These shirts are from Marginal Designs: It’s your lucky day!  Feel free to email them about your interest.

For people who want other tongue-in-cheek Pittsburgh t-shirts be sure to check out, or have them custom made through Commonwealth Press or the Cotton Factory

Just getting ready to head over the the Double Wide Grill to watch the Steelers and support the CHS holiday gift card drive – CHS is working very hard to provide some holiday cheer for some Pittsburgh families that they work with.

I just want to take a moment to say thanks to everyone that has been so supportive of this project and event.  When the folks from Chevy emailed me in October – they offered a pair of Steelers tickets in exchange for helping to spread the word about the Chevy Road to the Playoff event.

Brett from, OnlyinPgh and I asked, and they graciously agreed to let us use this Steelers Watch party as an event to raise awareness of and collect gift cards for the CHS holiday programs.  And they loved the suggestion of hosting the event at the Double Wide Grill – which is another great coincidence because the folks at the Double Wide Grill have been working with Pittsburgh non profits year round to hold fundraising breakfasts.

A huge thanks to the following blogs for helping to spread the word about the event – I am amazed at how many people are willing to work to help spread the word about this event

And and extra special thanks to Moop Shop and Direct Online Marketing for their generous offers of support.  And to Dan Gigler for including the event in his Steelers new on the Post-Gazette’s Blog ‘n’ Gold. [Read more…]
