First Tasting of the Day at Stone Hill Winery

First Tasting of the Day at Stone Hill Winery

The almost husband (AH) had to head back to Pittsburgh Sunday morning but luckily I had lined up some friends to pick me up and visit the three remaining wineries on my itinerary.  AH and I ate breakfast at R&R Station in Mt. Pleasant.  The Trainwreck, a mixture of eggs, peppers, onions, cheese, ham, bacon, and potatoes was quite good and the AH dug his biscuits and gravy.  It was only after he abandoned me that I noticed the articles posted around about the paranormal activity that had taken place there over the years.  Luckily, Rachael and Ben (RK and BK) were right on time picking me up and whisked me away to the Stone Villa Wine Cellar. We arrived just as they were opening and live music was scheduled to start at 12:30.  I was pleased to see a lovely outdoor pavilion next to a lake and excited that live music was still scheduled in open air, beneath the pavilion.  We tasted several great wines within the 6 wine limit and settled on the Pinocitro to open outside while we enjoyed the music.  Stone Villa.JPGStone Villa has 26 wines at your disposal, and you can become a case card member and accrue  points for every dollar you spend, or get 10% off every case you buy. And I would heartily recommend the Pinocitro which we finished off under the pavilion while watching a fun cover band play old rock-n-roll favorites.   After viewing some classic rock with a slew of die hard fans of Stone Villa, we had to take off for our next stop: Greendance Winery.

Stone Villa is lovely, but Sand Hill Berries Farm and Greendance (just a few miles from Stone Villa!) is even more amazing. I got married there in August, outside in the middle of the wildflowers and the petting zoo critters. Gorgeous!
