I have read about the Golden Spiral, the Golden Mean, etc. in composition guides. I always found it hard to apply them to photography without an overlay like this. The Rule of Thirds is certainly easier to include in software, but I have wanted to try some of the other concepts like the Spiral too. You may also want to check out Urban Dare Pittsburgh, http://www.urbandare.com, which takes place on April 25. This is a team race where you solve clues to find checkpoints where you will take photos or perform dares. It's part trivia, part running, part challenges, and totally fun.
