These days it seems like everyone is abuzz with new art goings on in Braddock. This month has been especially rich because of the Matchwood Festival. Don’t miss the chance to spend the night in Braddock and see some great local filmmakers present their work at the Slumber Party Film Fest this Friday. Don’t forget your sleeping bag, socktopus, and to check out the Matchwood Festival blog.
What is the Matchwood Festival?August 08-30, 2008: Braddock PAThe Matchwood Festival showcases a unique trend of art in the public realm. Inspired by the anonymity of artist collectives and a non-hierarchical framework for the exchange and representation of ideas, Matchwood offers immersive events that involve the engagement of artists and audiences. The Festival consists of art openings, a lecture series, music and dance performances, a reading series, a unique book releases an avant-garde breakfast accompanied by a vintage cartoon screening. These weekend events match local artists with national artists, and integrate the audience to create collaborations, critical dialogue and improvisation.
