Sunny days are here again. Okay, I know this week has been a bit chilly but Joe Dinardo says it is going to be 70 on Friday – which is perfect because Friday, May 2nd is opening day for Kayak Pittsburgh. I have now received phone calls from some of these cupcake lovers to ask if I know if Dozen is open after 6pm on Sundays because said cupcake lovers “must have a Dozen cupake.” I promise I will post some pictures of a recent visit to Dozen soon but if you are a cupcake lover or have been looking for an excuse to try Dozen I think you will be happy to see this announcement.
Continue Reading »Chris Ivey is a Pittsburgh based filmmaker who has traveled around the world working on documentary films. Over the past 2 years he has been working on a film about East Liberty called East of Liberty. I had a chance to see some of the raw footage when Chris started working on this and in the past year he even shown the film in London. East of Liberty is a look at the stories and the people of East Liberty who aren’t usually the ones getting the media attention around some of the current development there. The Union Project is showing the film as part of their Monday conversation series about the neighborhood. I think this is well worth attending. I am including the details below the video clip.

Just in case you aren’t following the NHL, the Pittsburgh Penguins have made it to the playoff and will be competing against the NY Rangers on Friday and Sunday. So if you are a die hard hockey fan and are wondering about how are you going to survive Saturday or if you are just looking for a fun Saturday afternoon activity – this is the event for you.
The Pittsburgh Celebrity Hockey team will take the ice against the Pittsburgh Pharaohs.
- Pittsburgh Celebrity Hockey Team – former Penguins, Steelers, famous people and Pittsburgh City Council Members
- Pittsburgh Pharaohs – some people that like to play hockey – I have no idea why the name pharaohs – I would love to know.
The fun goes down on Saturday April 26, 2008 at the Ice Castle Arena. Doors open at 3:00 pm and the game will begin at 3:10. Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for children under 12. There will also be an autographed memorabilia auction, and snacks and soft drinks will be available. All proceeds benefit the MDA.
